Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for subsystems and interfaces on automated robots. You will direct design principles, guide new practices, and take designs from concept to production with accountability for program-level outcomes.

You will collaborate with mechanical, firmware, safety, PLM, and contract manufacturers to ensure builds are qualified and released through Symbotic’s PDP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years electrical design experience from concept to production.
• Expertise in Altium schematic capture and PCB layout; strong ECAD experience.
• Experience in automation robotics and/or automotive platforms in harsh environments.
• Demonstrated integration across electronics, mechanical, firmware, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex electrical design problems across board, harness, and subsystem levels.
• Drive designs from concept through production for owned programs.
• Follow PDP phase-gate processes, lead design reviews, and ensure traceability from requirements to release.
• Design schematics and PCB layouts in Altium; own stackup, routing, SI/PI, EMC-aware layout.
• Apply DfX (DFM, DFA, DFT) to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Work with PLM and contract manufacturers to enable production and first article.
