Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer in Akron, OH to create world-class designs for diverse facilities. You will work on project teams through design and construction, adapting electrical plans to budgets and client needs.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of experience with power systems; PE licensure is preferred. Remote work is not indicated; travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus three years of electrical systems studies experience.
• Master’s degree with two additional years of related experience acceptable in lieu of Bachelors plus three years.
• Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer licensure.

Responsibilities

• Execute complex electrical engineering assignments using advanced techniques.
• Coordinate departmental project studies and design assignments.
• Perform power system studies and protection coordination (up to 500-kV).
• Develop design basis documentation for protective settings and relay files.
• Conduct design reviews and support quality control.
• Assist project manager with scope of work and initial design.
• Train, guide, and mentor less experienced team members.
• Support business development and marketing initiatives.
