Burns & McDonnell in Minneapolis, MN seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead or execute power system protection and control projects, from small upgrades to large 500-kV transmissions. The role spans planning, studies, design, and client liaison across multiple projects.

Applicants should have a PE license preferred, with expertise in protection schemes, relays, and standards. Travel up to 15% is possible as projects require.

Formación

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a directly related field plus seven (7) years of experience.
• Will accept a master’s degree plus six (6) years of related experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years.
• Professional Engineer licensure strongly preferred.
• Protection and control design for substations (69kV–500kV) including one-lines, three-lines, and control layouts.
• Knowledge of industry standards for protection of equipment (buses, transformers, breakers, etc.).
• Experience with relay coordination analysis and protective relay settings.

Responsabilidades

• Executes complex assignments using advanced electrical engineering techniques.
• Develop and evaluate plans for major projects and assess feasibility.
• Coordinate departmental project studies and design assignments.
• Perform power system studies and coordination for up to 500-kV systems.
• Develop design basis documentation and relay configuration files.
• Provide technical guidance and conduct design reviews with project teams.
• Act as primary client contact and assist PM with scope and conceptual design.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and support BD initiatives.
