Job summary

Fulton State Hospital is seeking a Staff Development Training Specialist to lead and coordinate the Social Learning Program trainings, including SMART, NEO, BPTC, CPR/HCP, and more. You will share duties with a rotating team and ensure high‑quality content delivery.

You will develop and deliver trainings, obtain DMH Way certifications, assess training needs across disciplines, and collaborate with program leadership to support staff growth in a trauma‑informed environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business, Social Work, or related field preferred but not required.
• Prior psychiatric technician experience preferred.
• Exhibits well developed communication skills. Can professionally receive and follow oral instructions in English.
• Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.
• Exhibits safe and productive work habits.

Responsibilities

• Learn and participate in all Staff Development training processes including SMART, NEO, BPTC, CPR/HCP, Program Training, etc.
• Share a rotating training schedule with other Staff Development Trainers.
• Develop, deliver and/or coordinate the delivery of all training, including situation management and physical intervention training (SMART).
• Coordinate all presentations and training delivered to new hires in different disciplines (NEO).
• Obtain certification in DMH Way skills to facilitate trainings.
• Assist hospital and program leadership in identifying staff training needs across disciplines.
• Work collaboratively with assigned treatment program to identify program-specific training, development, or in-service needs.
• Provide staff support and coverage in living areas as needed and assigned by program leadership.
• Participate in regular drills and opportunities for staff to practice skills taught in class.
• Structure all training content to include a trauma informed lens.
• Seek to innovate the staff training processes.
• Other duties as assigned by Staff Development Supervisor.
