Juniper Square is seeking a Staff Design Engineer to define design system strategy and the AI-enabled design-to-engineering workflow at scale. You will lead standards, governance, and the collaboration between design, engineering, and product.

This hands-on role combines coding, prototyping, and strategic influence, reporting to design leadership. You will shape how AI tools reshape the product's UI quality and the way teams work together across the company.

Qualifications

• 10+ years across design and front-end engineering with leadership impact.
• Proven experience building and scaling design systems and adoption strategy.
• Defendable point of view on great design systems and broad adoption.
• Deep front-end skills (TypeScript, React, CSS) with production coding ability.
• Experience defining technical strategy for design tooling or DX.
• Experience shaping AI-enabled design-to-engineering workflows.
• Strong communication and influential leadership to align teams.
• Fluency with AI-powered coding tools as part of core workflow.

Responsibilities

• Own design system strategy and roadmap including governance and contribution model.
• Define AI enablement strategy for design-to-engineering workflow from prototype to production.
• Set technical direction for UI quality across the product and establish standards.
• Identify systemic quality gaps and plan targeted improvements.
• Build infrastructure and templates to let designers ship in code via repeatable workflows.
• Partner with Design and Engineering leadership to shape long-term collaboration.
