Job summary

Cherry is seeking a Staff Design Engineer, Design Systems, to own and reimagine Cherry's design system across provider and consumer web and mobile apps, including POS. You will oversee the component library, React codebase, tokens, and documentation, while shaping interaction language and design system governance.

You will collaborate with AI tooling and the AI Enablement team to embed rules into workflows and align with frontend teams in Turkey, ensuring design system excellence across teams.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of experience spanning product design and front-end engineering.
• Expert-level React proficiency.
• Strong opinions on component architecture, testing, and code quality.
• Deep skills in design tooling, including tokens, variants, and design system management.
• Strong visual and interaction design across spacing, motion, hierarchy, and details.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools like Claude, Cursor, or Codex.
• Experience building and maintaining a design system used by multiple teams in production.
• Ability to communicate across designers, engineers, and product leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own the full design system, including component library, React codebase, interaction patterns, tokens, and documentation.
• Write, ship, and maintain production React code with code hygiene, testing practices, and clear architecture.
• Define the interaction and visual design language for Cherry's component library.
• Encode quality standards into components, tokens, and rules.
• Work with AI tooling such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex to embed design rules into development workflows.
• Partner with Cherry's AI Enablement team to build internal tools that extend the design system's reach.
• Partner with the front-end engineering team in Turkey on component architecture, implementation, and code review.
• Serve as the primary design system partner for the product design team.
