Job summary

Assembled is seeking a design engineer to lead the next generation of its design system in San Francisco. You will define visual language, interaction foundations, and reusable patterns that scale across products, including AI-assisted workflows with our engineering partners.

You will own governance, documentation, and patterns that empower multiple teams while maintaining high visual craft and consistency across platforms. This role is onsite in SF five days a week.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing and shipping production B2B software.
• Exceptional visual craft and high quality work.
• Strong systems thinking with primitives and reusable patterns.
• Experience structuring Figma libraries, tokens, variables, components and documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers on component APIs and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the next generation of Assembled's design system and define components and patterns for desktop and mobile.
• Establish documentation, contribution model, and governance for system adoption.
• Define reusable interaction patterns for AI-native products.
• Pioneer AI-assisted design-system workflows with production-quality UI generation and adoption tracking.
• Extend the system by solving data-dense, high-complexity product workflows.
