Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join the AI Engineering and Productivity team in Austin, TX. The role is hybrid and focuses on leading AI/ML and data science products that deliver measurable productivity improvements across the product lifecycle.

You will set scientific direction, drive operational robustness, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn technical tradeoffs into clear business decisions with strong outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in analytics/AI/ML and 3+ years leading initiatives.
• Thought leadership with innovative methodologies to solve business problems.
• Deep expertise across AI/ML domains including LLMs, forecasting, deep learning, OR, prescriptive/predictive methods.

Responsibilities

• Shape scientific direction and ensure quality and robustness across product suite.
• Mentor scientists, share knowledge, review work, and develop reusable frameworks.
• Deliver results on schedule within budget by managing risks and maintaining quality.
