Job summary

General Motors in Austin is seeking a senior Data Engineer to lead complex data pipelines and AI-enabled platforms. The role is hybrid, requiring office presence at GM Warren Global Technical Center or Austin Technical Center three times weekly, with autonomy and ownership over production data solutions.

You will build scalable data pipelines in Azure Databricks, work with LLMs, Vector Search, and Databricks agents, and mentor peers while partnering with data scientists to productionize AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience with Python/SQL on Azure Databricks and cloud data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionize scalable data pipelines in Azure Databricks for AI use cases.
• Transform raw data into trusted data products for analytics and AI applications.
• Develop automation and reusable workflows using Cursor, Claude, LLMs, and Databricks agents.
• Establish governed data patterns for vector search and AI-enabled apps.
• Build batch and streaming pipelines and collaborate with data science teams.
• Implement CI/CD, testing, data quality, lineage, and observability.
• Mentor team members through reviews and engineering best practices.
• Contribute to technical direction and reusable standards.
