Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Artificial Intelligence in Austin to advance AI software engineering across Manufacturing IT. You will lead the adoption of computer vision, ML, and deep learning solutions with Manufacturing Engineering partners and junior to principal AI engineers.

The role emphasizes designing scalable, end-to-end AI systems, evaluating new techniques, and delivering innovative production-ready solutions in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Data Science is required.
• In-depth software development experience.
• Extensive experience training, testing, and deploying deep learning models for vision.
• Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or Keras.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 6+ years in AI/ML or data science.
• Experience with Ops, MLOps, or LLMOps.
• 4+ years of deep learning vision experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive adoption of GM Manufacturing AI capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to improve AI and Robotics processes with Manufacturing Engineering SMEs.
• Design and develop ML solutions for real-world environments.
• Develop and implement computer vision solutions in production settings.
• Interpret research into deployable software, conduct simulations.
• Develop data visualization solutions.
• Design scalable systems with minimal operational overhead.
• Ensure architecture-aligned end-to-end system understanding.
