Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a senior data engineer to lead complex data work at GM's Warren or Austin centers. You will own data pipelines, enable AI-enabled data products, and mentor teammates. The role emphasizes automation, scalability, and production-ready solutions.

You will collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers, use Databricks and agentic AI tools, and influence best practices in data engineering across teams. The position is hybrid with three days on-site minimum.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong data engineering experience: pipelines, modeling, data integration, distributed processing, production support.
• Experience with Python or Scala, SQL, Spark, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP also considered).
• Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and lakehouse architectures.
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development or automation tools to improve productivity.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionize reliable data pipelines and data products in Azure Databricks.
• Transform raw data into trusted, structured data products for analytics, ML, and AI applications.
• Build automation and reusable workflows using Cursor, Claude, LLMs, and Databricks agents.
• Develop governed data patterns for Vector Search, RAG, and AI-enabled applications.
• Create batch and streaming pipelines; collaborate with data science teams as needed.
• Establish CI/CD, testing, data quality, lineage, and security patterns; ensure production support.
