Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead AI/ML and data science products, translating complex engineering challenges into scalable, production-grade AI solutions with measurable enterprise impact.

You will shape scientific direction, grow the team, and drive results with cross-functional collaboration across data engineering, delivery teams, and software domains. A strong emphasis on LLMs, forecasting, and prescriptive analytics is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of analytics experience and 3+ years leading AI/ML initiatives.
• Thought leadership in innovative methodologies for business problems.
• Deep expertise across AI/ML domains, with a focus on LLMs.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; proficient with cloud-based data science platforms.
• Experience with generative AI tools and platforms (Cursor, GitHub, Copilot, Glean, Databricks Genie).
• Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into tractable analytical strategies.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• MS or PhD in related fields or equivalent experience.
