Job summary

ServiceNow is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platform group. You will design, build, and operate cloud-native platform components, leading projects and aligning with architecture standards while mentoring junior engineers.

You will work hands-on with operators, controllers, and platform services, ensuring reliability and scalability in a hybrid work environment, with opportunities across multiple offices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with a Bachelor's degree; OR 5+ years with a Master’s degree; OR 3+ years with a PhD; OR equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience building, deploying and operating workloads on Kubernetes.
• Working experience with at least one major hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Solid working knowledge of containers, CI/CD and GitOps-based delivery, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Strong programming skills in Go (or another systems language).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate components and services within a cloud-native platform from design to production.
• Lead well-scoped projects within your team and translate requirements into technical designs.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to align with architecture and standards.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and operability; write tests and instrumentation; participate in on-call.
• Hands-on work building operators, controllers, automation, and platform services.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design feedback.
