Job summary

ServiceNow in San Diego, CA, seeks a Senior Staff Data Platform Engineer for the Data Access Team. You will help build the backbone of the AI Platform, enabling scalable, reliable data access and SQL generation across Relational/Time-Series stores.

You’ll lead architecture discussions, drive performance and quality, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product leadership to translate business needs into robust platform solutions. A strong Java and database background is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience with a Bachelor's degree; OR 8+ years with a Master's degree; OR 6+ years with a PhD OR equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated track record of technical leadership at a Staff or Senior Staff level (or equivalent)
• Expert level with core Java development
• Advanced-Expert level of backend platform development
• Knowledge of relational databases: PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, MS SQL Server, Trino, etc.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality, reliability, security and performance of data platform across systems.
• Manage and enhance a complex codebase with quality and speed.
• Deliver projects on time and with quality in collaboration with other engineers.
• Set technical direction and architecture for the Data Access systems.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering leadership to translate requirements into well-architected solutions.
• Drive design and code reviews and promote best practices.
• Develop and advocate for comprehensive test strategies.
• Mentor engineers to raise the technical bar across the team.
