Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Staff-level Engineer to lead the design and development of the Finance Data Platform, the foundational system powering revenue reporting, billing, forecasting, and compliance across the business.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Data Engineering, you will define the technical vision, translate business needs into scalable pipelines with Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake, write production-grade code, and mentor a growing team of engineers to ensure data

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering or architecture with 2+ years at staff/lead level.
• Experience building large-scale data infra for finance/revenue systems.
• Proficient with Kafka, ClickHouse, Snowflake and Big Data tools.
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design a data platform for revenue recognition, billing, and reporting using streaming tech.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and RevOps to translate requirements.
• Define data ingestion, transformation, and storage guidelines for auditability.
• Lead data engineering efforts and mentor engineers.
• Ensure SOX/SOC 2 compliance and robust monitoring.
• Shape architecture decisions and roadmap for finance data platforms.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy for financial tooling.
• Partner with security and internal audit to meet regulatory needs.
