Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the design and development of a next-gen Data Platform. You will architect scalable systems using Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake, while mentoring engineers and driving data governance.

You will partner with product and security teams to ensure data availability, latency targets, and compliance, shaping the roadmap for data-driven product initiatives across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering or related roles with 5+ years at principal engineer level.
• Proven ability to design and operate large-scale data infrastructures in fast-paced environments.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a next-generation data platform supporting batch and real-time analytics.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and leadership to align data strategy with product goals.
• Define data ingestion, modeling, ETL, and warehousing guidelines (ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake).
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices, ownership, and high-quality code.
• Drive architecture decisions, roadmaps, and make build-vs-buy recommendations.
• Partner with security, compliance, and legal teams to ensure data protection.
