Job summary

CVS Health Digital seeks a Staff Software Development Engineer to design and operate backend microservices at scale. You will focus on Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and event-driven patterns using Kafka, in a cloud-native, regulated environment.

You’ll partner with product, architecture, security and DevOps to deliver reliable services integrating with healthcare data standards and HIPAA requirements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years building backend apps with Java/JEE, Spring Boot and RESTful microservices.
• 3+ years deploying services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with GKE/Cloud Run.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.
• Security fundamentals including OAuth2/OIDC, TLS, secrets management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Java/JEE and Spring Boot.
• Implement event-driven patterns with Apache Kafka and ensure data exchange in JSON.
• Build CI/CD pipelines with testing, security checks, and progressive delivery.
• Ensure HIPAA/compliance, observability, and production readiness for scalable services.
