We seek a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to drive the technical roadmap for our relational and key-value databases, delivering scalable, multi-region, high-performance solutions that power affirm’s data platforms and services.

• Experience with designing and building scalable datastore platforms.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a yearly horizon.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and SRE teams.
• Design and build components for a scalable datastore platform.
• Develop control planes for management and self-service of databases at scale.
• Coordinate across product, design, and analytics to ensure sustainability and risk awareness.
• Advocate for technical solutions and robust operating processes.
• Own team operations, monitoring, on-call readiness, and playbooks.
• Establish code review and design standards to drive quality.
