The Staff Software Engineer will set the technical strategy for the Databases team, drive roadmap, and design high-performance data systems while partnering with product, SRE,

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
• 5+ years in database expertise with relational/distributed SQL.
• Strong experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication and ability to own and drive complex technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the Databases team over a yearly horizon.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and SRE teams on roadmap and execution.
• Design and build scalable, multi-region datastore components for high availability.
• Develop control planes for automated migrations, DR, sharding, and tuning.
• Lead through code reviews, standards, and cross-team influence.
• Ensure robust monitoring, on-call readiness, and incident response.
• Mentor team members and promote a culture of quality and ownership.
• Foster talent development through guidance and hands-on leadership.
