Job summary
Affirm is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Online Storage) to shape the technical roadmap for our databases platform and enable scalable, multi-region data services. You will own design and delivery of high-performance relational and key-value stores, collaborate with product, infra and SRE, and drive reliability, monitoring, and on-call readiness across global deployments.
The role requires 8+ years in backend systems and 5+ years in databases, with hands-on experience in
Qualifications
- 8+ years in backend systems design, development and scale.
- 5+ years of hands-on database expertise with relational or distributed SQL databases.
- Experience with AWS, Spark, and Kubernetes in production environments.
- Strong communication and ability to drive cross-team collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the Online Storage databases platform.
- Design and build scalable datastore components and multi-region solutions.
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure and SRE teams across the lifecycle.
- Ensure monitoring, reliability, and readiness for on-call support.
