Job summary

Jasper is seeking a Staff-level engineer to own the governance domain, including authentication, roles and permissions, organizations, groups, and billing. You will drive modernization and architecture, enable AI-native workflows, and lead a team while remaining hands-on most of the time.

This remote role supports continental US candidates and reports to Engineering leadership. You will partner with product and platform teams to translate complex enterprise requirements into scalable platform

Qualifications

• AI fluency with core AI concepts applied to backend engineering.
• Extensive backend experience with enterprise-scale systems.
• Deep expertise in authentication/authorization, multi-tenant systems, or billing platforms.
• Experience designing governance, compliance, reliability for enterprise buyers.
• Strong architectural judgment balancing pragmatism with long-term platform thinking.
• Evidence of technical leadership as an IC, mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.
• Willingness to write and review critical-path code while leading.
• Direct experience in governance space: auth/authz, multi-tenant orgs (nice to have).
• Experience with SSO/SAML, SCIM, audit logs, SOC2/ISO 27001 (nice to have).
• Familiarity with AI-native product development and agentic workflows (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Own architecture of the governance domain end-to-end and modernize for scale, security, and extensibility.
• Lead refactoring of foundational backend systems toward AI-native architecture.
• Set technical direction for authentication, authorization, and organizational modeling.
• Collaborate with product/engineering leadership to translate enterprise requirements into platform capabilities.
• Mentor and elevate the engineering team, raising code quality and architectural rigor.
• Remain hands-on 70-80% of the time, writing and reviewing critical-path code while providing leadership.
