Description

Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) is seeking a Staff Attorney I for the Division of Advocacy in Frankfort, Kentucky. KPPA manages three state retirement systems with nearly $25 billion in assets and about 433,000 members, including state employees, police, local government workers, and educational staff.

This role offers the opportunity to work with skilled litigators and support staff in a collegial environment that fosters growth. Key Responsibilities
  • Litigate administrative hearings related to disability claims under KRS Chapter 13B.
  • Conduct case investigations, discovery, depositions, and witness cross-examinations.
  • Research and interpret retirement laws, regulations, and case law; perform legal writing.
  • Prepare legal opinions and respond to member inquiries.
  • Review legal documents such as Divorce Decrees, Powers of Attorney, QDROs, and Guardianship Orders.
  • Assist with debt collection.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Must be admitted to practice law and in good standing in Kentucky or comply with SCR rules for limited admission.
