Agency Overview

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel seeks to hire a detail-oriented, efficient, and analytical individual for a Staff Attorney position in the Intake Department.

The candidate must have a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school, be admitted and in good standing in Ohio*, and have practiced law for a minimum of two years. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing skills, be an effective communicator, be committed to the highest ethical standards, and have a desire to join a dedicated and collaborative team of professionals. This position reports directly to the Senior Assistant Disciplinary Counsel for Intake.

Job Description

What you'll do:

TheStaffAttorneywillberesponsibleforevaluatingandinvestigatingincominggrievances based on the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct and the Ohio Code of Judicial Conduct.

The Staff Attorney will gather evidence relevant to the issues of attorney misconduct, judicial misconduct,medicalincapacity,alcoholandsubstanceabuse,andtheunauthorizedpracticeof law.

TheStaffAttorneywillregularlycommunicatewithgrievants,judicialofficials,attorneys,and the public regarding the evaluation and investigation of grievances.

TheStaffAttorneywillpreparememorandaandclosinglettersregardinggrievancesand investigations.

TheStaffAttorneywillassistineducatingthebenchandbarthroughCLEpresentations,training sessions, and other outreach initiatives.

TheStaffAttorneymayassistAssistantDisciplinaryCounselinthepreparationandpresentation of cases before the Board of Professional Conduct or the Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law.

Thepositionmayrequiresometravelthroughoutthestate. The outside practice of law is prohibited.
