Job summary

NEWSOFT CONSULTANTS is seeking an experienced Staff Design Engineer (preferably Physical Design) with hands-on ASIC design flow experience to help build and validate the next generation of flagship product. You will work across frontend and backend flows, collaborating with hardware, AI, and software teams to translate real-world ASIC workflows into scalable platform capabilities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in one or more stages of the ASIC design flow: RTL design, simulation, functional verification, synthesis, static timing analysis, place and route, physical design or timing closure.
• Strong understanding of the ASIC design lifecycle and frontend/backend interactions.
• Experience with commercial ASIC EDA environments (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens) and tool flows.
• Experience with additional tooling or scripting environments is a plus.
• Frontend ASIC design: Verilog/SystemVerilog, RTL, verification, linting, CDC analysis, synthesis, timing analysis. Experience with UVM or formal verification is a plus.
• Backend ASIC implementation: floorplanning, place & route, physical design, STA, timing closure, power analysis, physical verification.
• Ability to interpret tool reports and diagnose failures; understanding downstream impact across the flow.
• Scripting in Python, Tcl, or shell; comfortable with Git/CI/CD and reproducible workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define and advocate ASIC design flow workflows within our flagship product.
• Contribute to frontend workflows: RTL, simulation, verification, linting, CDC, synthesis.
• Contribute to backend workflows: place & route, physical design, STA, timing closure, power, PV.
• Work with CAD tools to understand inputs/outputs and build reproducible workflows.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and validate outputs with standard tools.
• Develop or contribute to reference designs, IP blocks, test cases, and implementation flows.
• Document design constraints, diagnostics, and validation criteria for repeatable platform use.
• Collaborate across teams to align downstream decisions with upstream design stages.
