Job summary

Capital One is hiring an experienced Staff AI Engineer to build and optimize enterprise AI systems. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, PMs, and product teams to deliver AI-powered products that impact millions of customers and associates.

You will work with a broad stack including AWS, HuggingFace, PyTorch, and VectorDBs, driving responsible AI and scalable infrastructure across Capital One’s IFX initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's with 6–8+ years in AI/ML development.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
• Experience building scalable AI/ML systems and architectures.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components (foundation models, LLM inference, agents).
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, PyTorch).
• Develop optimization techniques to improve performance, latency, and cost of AI systems.
• Contribute to technical vision and enterprise AI architecture standards.
