Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Core Automation team to architect and build AI-driven systems that transform customer support and compliance processes. You will design orchestration, guardrails, and measurement frameworks for scalable agentic AI across the company.

The role requires leading development of distributed AI infrastructure, mentoring engineers, and delivering reliable, low-hallucination systems in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with distributed systems experience and production AI/ML deployments.
• Experience working with LLM-based applications, grounding measurement, hallucination reduction, and guardrails for reliability.
• Deep expertise designing APIs, orchestration layers, and evaluation frameworks for agentic AI systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build Agentic AI systems powering Coinbase's compliance automation and Operations.
• Design foundational APIs and measurement frameworks to ensure grounded, reliable AI agents with minimal hallucination.
• Lead technical direction for distributed systems underpinning AI automation and define architecture patterns and roadmaps.
• Build reusable primitives and orchestration solutions to scale AI-powered automation across domains beyond initial use cases.
• Mentor engineers on AI system design, production-readiness, and best practices for LLM-based applications.
