Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Core Automation team within the Platform group to architect and build Agentic AI systems that transform how Coinbase operates. You will own the technical direction for production AI systems across cross-functional teams, delivering scalable automation with minimal hallucinations and robust guardrails.

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience shipping production AI/ML.
Experience with LLM-based applications and grounding, mitigating hallucinations, and building guardrails.
Expertise in designing APIs, orchestration layers, and scalable agentic AI systems.

Responsibilities

Architect and build Agentic AI systems powering Coinbase's compliance automation and other Operations.
Design APIs and measurement frameworks to ensure AI agents are grounded, relevant, and deliver customer delight with minimal hallucination.
Lead technical direction for distributed systems underpinning AI automation, defining architecture patterns and strategic roadmaps.
Build reusable primitives and orchestration solutions that scale AI-powered automation across domains beyond initial focus.
Mentor engineers on AI system design techniques, coding standards, and production-readiness practices for LLM-based applications.
