Job summary

Syndio is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to own major runtime surfaces of our AI platform. You’ll design, ship, and operate end-to-end systems, collaborating with product-team owners through the platform’s contribution seams.

This high-autonomy role sits on a small team (3–4 engineers) and offers opportunities to influence architecture, improve observability, and drive compliance and security across the pipeline.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production backend systems.
• Proficient in Python, relational stores, and cloud infra (GCP/Kubernetes).
• Built LLM-powered production systems with agent loops and tool-calling.
• Design for operability including compliance, tracing, evals, and kill switches.
• Strong written communication and API spec ownership.
• Nice to have platform-on-platform experience and SSE/streaming.

Responsibilities

• Core runtime surfaces of syndi-api: agent loop, tool execution and registry, memory, context management.
• The eval system — offline gates and online detector/evals on production traces.
• Production operation: observability, incident response, platform reliability for real customers.
• Reviewing product teams' tool wrappers and evals, evolving GET /tools registry and drift-detection contract.
• Clarifying, designing, and implementing compliance and legal requirements for Syndi.
