Job summary

Nubank is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, AI Agents, to own end-to-end orchestration, agent design and the engineering quality bar for our AI agents. You will build reliable, secure, and maintainable products that scale across platforms.

This role blends deep backend and production AI with human-in-the-loop workflows, collaborating with stakeholders across Brazil, the United States and Canada. Hybrid work 2–3 days per week at an approved Nubank office.

Qualifications

• Proven Staff-level technical leadership delivering complex software systems in production.
• Hands-on experience with production agent or LLM systems including orchestration, tools, outputs and failure modes.
• Strong backend and systems engineering across services, contracts, authentication and data flows.
• High bar for quality and operability with monitoring, testing and incident readiness.
• Experience handling sensitive data with privacy constraints and human-in-the-loop decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design the orchestration model for agents across surfaces and services.
• Create and evolve agents for real People workflows, including contracts and identity.
• Establish a strong engineering quality bar with CI, observability and security controls.
• Build infrastructure to process data from multiple platforms (Slack, Google Docs, Confluence).
• Define standards for other engineers and tooling across architecture and contracts.
• Partner with Product, People, Data, Security and Compliance teams to align decisions.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
• Support safe adoption of AI-powered products by engineers and non-engineers.
