Job summary

In Tandem is seeking a senior software engineer to drive AI-native development on a backend-centric platform. You will design scalable services, orchestrate AI agents, and review outcomes across multiple teams in a rotational program.

You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, QA, and automation engineers to ship features end-to-end while advancing the engineering organization’s capabilities. Applicants must be located in the United States.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in production software engineering with deep backend expertise.
• Strong experience in statically typed languages (Java preferred).
• Hands-on with AI-native development and agent orchestration.
• Ability to review AI-generated code and edge cases.
• Experience with scalable backend systems and API design.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services in Java/Spring.
• Orchestrate AI agents and review outcomes across features.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and automation teams.
• Participate in rotational program across multiple teams.
• Contribute to platform-level improvements and tooling.
