Job summary

Nubank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI Agents, to own end-to-end agent work including orchestration, design, and the engineering quality bar. You will handle production-grade AI agents with sensitive People data across Brazil, the United States and Canada, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will mentor engineers, shape architectures, and drive reliable, secure, and maintainable products, while guiding adoption of AI-powered workflows across Nubank.

Qualifications

• Proven staff-level technical leadership delivering complex software systems in production.
• Hands-on experience with production agent or LLM systems, including orchestration, tool use, structured outputs and real-world failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Designing the orchestration model for agents across surfaces and services.
• Creating and evolving agents for real People workflows, including tools, contracts, identity and scope.
• Establishing a strong engineering quality bar via testing, observability, cost controls and incident readiness.
• Building infrastructure to process data from multiple internal platforms (Slack, Google Docs, Confluence).
• Defining standards for other engineers and coding agents across architecture and reviews.
• Partnering with Product, People, Data, Security and Compliance teams to align decisions with needs.
• Mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across a growing, cross-functional team.
• Supporting safe adoption of AI-powered products by engineers and non-engineers alike.
