Job summary

Capital One seeks a Staff AI Engineer to help build an AI-native enterprise analysis platform. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, PMs, and managers to deliver AI-powered products, train and deploy models, and optimize large-scale AI workflows in a hybrid remote environment.

You will shape the technical vision, drive architecture, and champion responsible AI while mentoring teams and advancing best practices across the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/AI/EE/CE with substantial AI/ML work experience.
• 8+ years programming in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA or Java.
• Experience designing AI systems and deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS, HuggingFace, PyTorch).
• Implement foundation model optimization techniques for scale, latency, and cost.
• Contribute to long-term roadmap for enterprise AI systems at Capital One.
• Set technical direction for enterprise AI architecture and standards.
• Own design/integration of model routing, caching, and orchestration.
• Promote responsible AI principles across system design and governance.
• Drive internal education, mentorship, and dissemination of best practices.
