Job summary

Workstream is seeking a Staff-level engineer to lead AI-Native Services (AINS) from zero to one. You’ll shape architecture, set engineering bar, and build the team to scale bespoke workflows into reusable agents and playbooks.

As the first dedicated AI engineer, you’ll work with design customers, own components, and drive deterministic outcomes while collaborating with leadership on delivery and GTM strategy.

Qualifications

• Has built and operated at least one AI agent or agentic workflow in production.
• Clearly explains architecture, failure modes, evaluation, and determinism.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate production agents and agentic workflows: orchestration, tool use, data connections, deterministic logic, state, and permissions.
• Work with design customers—sit in their workflow, map reality, and build against live data.
• Build the evaluation harness: eval datasets, pre-launch thresholds, regression suites, monitoring.
• Build the human-review layer: queues, tooling, escalation paths, auditable decisions.
• Run shadow-mode parallel runs to zero discrepancies before go-live.
• Turn customer work into reusable agents and playbooks; productize as default.
