Job summary

Workstream is building AI-native services for the hourly workforce and is seeking a Staff-level engineer to lead the AINS initiative on a fully remote basis. You will own agents, architect scalable workflows, and partner with design customers to validate live data.

You will shape architecture, set engineering bar, and build a team around reusable, auditable agentic solutions while contributing to the company’s mission and growth.

Qualifications

• Built and operated at least one AI agent or agentic workflow in production.
• Ability to explain how it worked, where it failed, how evaluated, and what remained deterministic or human-led.
• Strong engineering judgment across models, orchestration, APIs, data and integrations, permissions, observability, and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate production AI agents and agentic workflows – orchestration, tool use, data connections, deterministic logic, and permissions.
• Work with design customers in real environments to map workflows and build against live data.
• Develop evaluation harnesses, including pre-launch thresholds, regression tests, and post-launch monitoring.
• Create human-review layers with queues, tooling, escalation paths, and auditable decision traces.
• Manage shadow-run comparisons and drive discrepancies to zero before go-live.
• Turn customer-specific work into reusable agents and playbooks; productization is standard.
• Handle production incidents end-to-end and feed learnings back into evals and controls.
