Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and build distributed backend systems and AI agent frameworks for next‑generation grid management. You will lead architecture decisions and deliver production-ready software across SCADA interfaces, PMU data streams, and time-series data stores, ensuring reliability in mission‑critical environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend or distributed systems experience.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one of Java, C++, or Go.
• Experience designing microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML production systems such as model serving or inference pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, concurrency, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed backend systems and APIs integrating with SCADA/PMU data streams.
• Architect AI agent frameworks for ML models, rule engines, and automation in control rooms.
• Develop AI/ML production infrastructure including model lifecycle and real-time feedback loops.
• Lead code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, performance tuning, and observability.
• Collaborate with data scientists, power systems engineers, and DevOps to deploy in mission-critical environments.
• Contribute to scalable, secure on-premises architecture decisions.
