Job summary

gridcare seeks a senior engineer to lead grid interconnection studies, merging power‑systems analysis with AI‑driven automation to modernize how studies are performed for data centers and inverter-based renewable generation.

You will engage utilities, regulators, and developers, delivering robust models and scalable workflows in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Remote options exist with a preferred Redwood City location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, power systems focus; master's or PhD preferred.
• 10+ years in power system studies, transmission planning, or interconnection work.
• At least two years running interconnection studies.
• Proficiency with commercial power system software such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, PSCAD, PowerGEM TARA, or ASPEN.
• Strong coding ability in Python, including power system tool APIs.
• Knowledge of FERC, NERC, ISO/RTO interconnection processes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute load and generation interconnection studies (steady-state, short-circuit, dynamic analyses).
• Establish methodology and tooling for dynamics and short-circuit studies.
• Build power flow and stability models for new interconnections.
• Advise engineering team on study methodology and interconnection processes.
• Translate capacity assessments into operational approaches for utilities.
• Engage with utility planners, project managers, developers, and regulators and present results.
• Evaluate interconnection options, system upgrades, Grid-Enhancing Technologies, and provide recommendations.
• Partner with AI and automation teams to streamline study workflows and improve accuracy.
