Job summary

Powerline is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the systems powering renewable and battery storage optimization. You will develop real-time data pipelines, integrate ML models, and create dashboards and infrastructure for AI agents.

The role centers on backend systems, with flexibility toward frontend or AI tooling based on strengths. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and energy experts to evolve our core platform as an early foundational member in a climate tech

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, with large-scale real-time systems.
• Proficiency in Python with strong testing and debugging skills.
• Experience building APIs, distributed systems, and data pipelines.
• Solid SQL and NoSQL database design and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy software systems that optimize renewable and battery storage operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML and optimization models.
• Build tools, data access layers, and infrastructure powering Powerline's AI agents for energy market data.
• Contribute to intuitive interfaces that let users monitor asset performance in real time.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from architecture to maintenance.
• Ensure production systems are scalable, reliable, and high-performing.
• Diagnose bottlenecks, resolve real-time issues, and improve system performance and monitoring.
• Stay current on trends in software engineering and grid technology to drive innovation.
