Job summary

SWARCO McCain seeks a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations, ensure accuracy of financial records, and assist with audits and compliance. Responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and maintaining the general ledger.

The role requires 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is a plus. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or GED; 3-6+ years of progressive accounting experience; Strong GAAP knowledge; Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups)
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting; Dynamics Great Plains experience; IFRS knowledge focusing on Revenue Recognition.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for routine and adjusting transactions.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, and income statement accounts).
• Assist with month-end and year-end close process.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Assist with tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, or income tax support.
• Identify process improvements and assist with implementation.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
