Talen Energy is seeking an Accountant in Allentown, PA, reporting to an Accounting Manager. The role supports journal entries, fixed assets, accruals, and general ledger activities for a public power producer with a SOX/compliance focus.

Ideal candidates hold an accounting or finance degree with 1–2 years of experience. The position offers a hybrid work model, collaboration across teams, and opportunities to influence financial reporting and policy application.

Qualifications

• Public accounting experience in SEC or power industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries related to energy and fuel, fixed assets and maintenance expenses.
• Manage inventory and prepaids, investment activity, and monthly accruals.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and provide variance analyses.
• Prepare financial statements, balance sheet and income statement analyses.
• Support audits with workpapers and requested information.
• Assist in internal control, GAAP, FERC, NERC and OSHA compliance.
• Collaborate to improve accounting processes and adapt to changing guidance.
