Job summary

LHH is seeking a staff accountant for a well-established energy organization in Dallas, TX. The role focuses on revenue accounting and GAAP compliance, requiring 1–2 years of accounting experience and a bachelor's degree in Accounting.

You will support senior accountants with land, leasing, and royalty-related activities, prepare monthly statements, journal entries, and cash forecasting, and collaborate across departments. CPA progress is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Current CPA license or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Familiarity with GAAP and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Support the senior accounting team with financial activities related to land, leases, and resource management.
• Calculate and record monthly revenue associated with surface rights, leases, easements, and material sales.
• Assist with monthly financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, ensuring accurate and complete financial records.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial fluctuation analyses.
• Prepare daily treasury reports and assist with cash forecasting and transactions.
• Process oil and gas royalty payments and related revenue deposits.
• Collaborate with internal departments to gather information and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP and develop an understanding of the organization's legal entities and business operations.
