Job summary

McGrath RentCorp is seeking a Staff Accountant in Livermore, CA to join our Corporate Accounting team. You will perform month-end close activities, post journal entries, and reconcile accounts to ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 1–3+ years of accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and solid Excel abilities. This role supports internal/external audits and helps improve accounting controls in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Intermediate Excel skills, including basic formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries for month-end close.
• Analyze financial transactions and investigate variances.
• Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close responsibilities.
• Prepare reconciliations for general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany balances and other corporate accounts.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to supporting systems and subledgers, investigate variances and discrepancies.
• Support preparation of monthly management reporting packages and financial analyses.
• Prepare schedules and reports supporting internal and external financial reporting requirements.
• Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules, documentation, and account analyses.
• Assist with ad hoc financial reporting requests and special projects.
• Assist with SOX compliance and internal control documentation related to assigned processes.
• Ensure financial reporting is in compliance with GAAP.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen accounting processes and controls.
