Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is hiring a Staff Accountant in California to support general ledger activities, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role emphasizes GAAP compliance, accuracy, and process improvements within a collaborative finance team.

The successful candidate will handle journal entries, reconciliations, and close activities, while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable financial information and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and lookup functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for accurate reporting.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and support financial statement preparation.
• Reconcile bank accounts, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and balance sheet accounts.
• Analyze financial results and assist with variance analysis.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and accounting policies.
• Participate in preparing financial reports and management reports.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate financial information and proper accounting treatment.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Support special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc reporting as needed.
