The Role:

Cognizant is seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Site Reliability Engineer to serve our diverse global clients. You will build cloud-based software that powers modern business. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a collaborative, distributed team, is an expert engineer, values teamwork, drives continuous improvement, and challenges legacy systems with creative solutions.

Location: Chicago, IL (Remote - CST)

Note: Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on SRE activities independently
• Implement core SRE principles and practices
• Collaborate on estimation, resource planning, and delivering solutions
• Understand management requirements for resiliency and strategize accordingly
• Build and manage automation processes
• Triage and conduct root cause analysis of production incidents
• Ensure observability and monitoring using APM tools, dashboards, and automation
• Display leadership qualities such as cross-team collaboration and effective communication

Required Qualifications

• 15-20 years of experience
• Experience with SRE Chaos/Resiliency Engineering
• Knowledge of SRE Monitoring & Observability
• Understanding of cloud concepts, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix, Java, Python, Terraform, Ansible
• Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Splunk, APMs
• Knowledge of databases, AWS, and OpenShift

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary ranges from $102,600 to $162,500, depending on experience and qualifications.

This position is eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance.
