An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Sanitation Manager to ensure the safety and compliance of the Sanitation Team. This position is responsible for the safety of the Sanitation Team and assisting in controlling expenses. It ensures compliance with federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements, enforces company policies, and maintains a non-union program. The role involves determining manpower needs, preparing records and reports, solving problems effectively, and working with department heads to meet production and quality goals while maintaining labor standards. Responsibilities also include inspecting and maintaining high standards in housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety. The manager will oversee, evaluate, and train supervisors across various facets such as paperwork, attendance, discipline, motivation, and safety. They are accountable for performance areas including safety, turnover, morale, and other duties as needed, and oversee all shift operations as deemed necessary by the plant manager.
Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent experience; a college degree is preferred. The candidate should have over 5 years of related industry experience, supervisory experience in a meat processing facility (pork or beef) preferred, and knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HACCP regulations. Experience with sanitation and chemicals, understanding of processing and harvest operations, and basic HACCP principles are a plus. Computer literacy and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to interact effectively with all levels of team members and officials. The candidate should be a leader, problem solver, team player, and possess strong managerial skills with excellent safety and attendance records.
Supervisory responsibilities include managing all sanitation operations, overseeing sanitation supervisors’ schedules, CCP verification, safety committees, and team member reviews. The role involves hiring, training, planning, directing, monitoring performance, rewarding, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and resolving issues. The candidate must lead by example, delegate responsibilities, demonstrate sound judgment, and work collaboratively with department heads to meet safety, production, and quality goals. All Tyson Team Members are responsible for safety, including personal safety and food safety, with this position specifically accountable for food safety, quality, and legality.
