The Senior Fleet Manager partners closely with Operations, Safety (TSQ), Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Executive Leadership to ensure fleet decisions support business growth, safety, and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet Strategy & Asset Lifecycle
  • Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of all fleet assets, including vehicle specification, acquisition, utilization, maintenance strategy, replacement planning, and disposition.
  • Establish fleet standards and governance models that ensure consistency, accountability, and scalability across regions and business units.
  • Align fleet capacity and asset mix with operational demand and long‑term business strategy.
Financial Oversight & Cost Control
  • Develop and manage fleet operating and capital budgets, ensuring cost discipline and transparency.
  • Monitor total cost of ownership (TCO), fuel spend, maintenance expense, and utilization metrics, implementing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Lead vendor negotiations for vehicle purchases, leases, maintenance programs, fuel programs, and related services.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
  • Serve as the organization’s fleet compliance authority, ensuring adherence to DOT, FMCSA, CDL, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the Vice President of TSQ to analyze driver behavior, identify risk trends, and assign corrective training programs.
  • Oversee accident investigations, claims coordination, and corrective action plans to reduce repeat incidents and exposure.
  • Ensure fleet documentation, driver qualifications, and vehicle records are audit‑ready at all times.
Fleet Operations & Maintenance Governance
  • Establish and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize uptime, safety, and asset longevity.
  • Provide escalation leadership for complex fleet issues, including breakdowns, chronic maintenance failures, or vendor performance concerns.
  • Define standards for vehicle assignment, usage, and accountability, ensuring drivers meet licensing, training, and authorization requirements.
Technology, Telematics & Data Analytics
  • Lead the governance of fleet management systems (FMS), telematics, and telemetry platforms.
  • Use fleet and driver data to drive performance improvement, compliance monitoring, and executive decision‑making.

Leadership, Training & Cross‑Functional Partnership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop fleet personnel, setting expectations and performance standards.
  • Deliver fleet training programs for drivers, managers, and operational leaders through in‑person and virtual formats.
  • Act as the primary fleet liaison to Operations, Finance, HR, Safety, and Executive Leadership.
Reporting & Executive Communication

  • Translate operational fleet data into clear business insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Extensive experience leading fleet and transportation operations across multiple locations.
  • Advanced knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, CDL, and fleet compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience managing fleet budgets, vendor contracts, and large asset portfolios.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate data into strategy.
  • High level of proficiency with fleet management systems, telematics platforms, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross‑functional teams and operate effectively at both operational and executive levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with telematics platforms such as GeoTab and Samsara.
