Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • At least 6 years of experience administering mutual funds, including financial reporting, fund accounting, or operations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory filings and financial reporting requirements for mutual funds and ETFs, including SEC Forms N-CSR, N‑1A, 24f-2, 17f‑2, and N‑PORT/N‑MFP.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and authorize fund filings including SEC Forms N-CSR, N-CSR iXBRL, N-1A support, 24f-2, and 17f‑2.
  • Support other regulatory filings such as SEC Form N‑MFP, N‑PORT, and N‑CEN.
  • Coordinate and balance schedules with internal and external partners for filings and reviews.
  • Provide expert regulatory/financial reporting guidance across SAM.
  • Lead process improvements and automation in partnership with stakeholders.

Job description

Role Overview

The Senior Manager will support a growing Financial and Regulatory Reporting Team within Schwab Asset Management, overseeing third‑party administrators and ensuring timely, accurate regulatory filings. This individual contributor role reports to a Director People Leader.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversight and authorization of fund filings including SEC Forms N-CSR (shareholder report and holdings and financial statements), N-CSR iXBRL, N-1A support, 24f-2, and 17f‑2
  • Supporting other regulatory filings, including SEC Form N‑MFP, N‑PORT, and N‑CEN
  • Supporting and automating reviews of semiannual and annual shareholder reports and holdings and financial statements and quarterly holdings for N-PORT Part F, ensuring compliance with regulatory and disclosure requirements
  • Strategic oversight of third‑party fund administrators’ preparation of regulatory filings and communicating performance to management
  • Coordinating and balancing schedules with internal and external partners for filings and reviews you are leading
  • Playing a key role in implementing process improvements and leading interactions with external and internal partners
  • Partnering with all functional areas of SAM to provide expertise on regulatory and financial reporting standards
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and implementing them proactively with partner organizations and senior management
  • Communicating and presenting to senior management in SAM on financial and regulatory standards and processes, including interactions with CFO and CEO as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree mandatory (BS in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred)
  • Minimum 6 years of experience administering mutual funds, including financial reporting, fund accounting, or operational experience
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory filings and financial reporting requirements for mutual funds and ETFs, including oversight and authorization of SEC Forms N-CSR, N‑1A support, 24f-2, 17f‑2, and experience with SEC Forms N‑PORT and N‑MFP
  • Strong organizational skills, detail‑oriented, able to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated drive to improve quality, accuracy, and due diligence
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with financial reporting of interval funds, private markets, private 3c-7 liquidity funds, tokenized funds, and crypto ETPs
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement effective change and automation
  • Proactive support of business partners and company goals through collaboration and networking
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, able to interact with all levels in SAM Fund Administration teams and external/internal partners
