Job summary

Foot Locker is seeking a Senior Manager, Value Stream Lean Leader to drive Operational Excellence at the Reno, NV Distribution Center. You will lead strategic CI programs, map value streams, and develop Lean certification across the site while partnering with the Sr. Director of Operations to improve quality, service, and efficiency.

You will mentor front-line leaders, oversee Kaizen events, and align projects with business strategy, embedding continuous improvement across operations.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of Foot Locker’s operational strategic projects including Continuous Improvement, Change Management, cost optimization, and Operational Excellence Training
  • Create and maintain site value stream mapping for key process flows and the Hoshin planning model
  • Develop and execute Lean certification program for all site exempt employees and monthly training sessions for non-exempt employees
  • Lead large scale and complex improvement projects within operations or across facilities and coordinate with project teams
  • Lead quarterly site Kaizen events to deliver cost savings per site objectives
  • Mentor site front-line leaders in leadership and change management
  • Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities and aligned with strategy
  • Communicate best practices and learnings across the organization
  • Support employee engagement through recognition programs and innovation
  • Utilize CI tools to conduct root cause analysis and risk planning
  • Lead Change Management planning and execution for projects
  • Facilitate cross-functional teamwork and post-mortems
  • Interface between site operations and engineering SMEs to translate requirements

Senior Manager, Value Stream Lean Leader (Sr. Manager, Continuous Improvement), you will drive Operational Excellence capability development programs for our Camp Hill distribution center and partner with functional leaders to define and execute improvement initiatives across Foot Locker distribution center operations. You will have a dotted line to the site's Sr. Director of Operations as part of the facility leadership team to lead the site's strategy plan to drive improved performance in Quality, Service, and Efficiency. In addition to expert level knowledge of Operational Excellence techniques, we are also looking for subject matter expertise in one or more specific areas of operations.

In this role, you will identify key opportunities and gaps in the core business processes, align resources to these priorities, and ensure that appropriate charters and quality improvement methodologies, tools, and techniques are being leveraged to drive improvements. We are looking for someone who will continuously advocate for future operational improvements by partnering with and challenging the business and leadership in system thinking and new ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the implementation of site’s value stream mapping for key process flows and the overall Hoshin planning model for strategic initiatives to drive the defined continuous improvement roadmap
  • Responsible for the development and execution of Lean certification program for all site exempt employees, and monthly training sessions for non-exempt employees
  • Assist in leading large scale and complex improvement projects within operations or across facilities and effectively coordinate these programs with the project teams
  • Lead the execution of quarterly site Kaizen events to deliver cost savings in accordance with site strategic objectives
  • Mentor and develop all site front-line leaders in leadership best practices inclusive of verbal and visual communication techniques, as well as effective change management methodologies
  • Assure that practices promoting continuous improvement are adopted by the organization to drive improvements in morale, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Project leadership including identifying opportunities, defining and financially justifying projects, negotiating resources, launching project teams, using good project management to manage team activities, training and coaching Lean resources assigned to the team, leading teams to execute projects with problem solving methodology, tracking project status and results, anticipating and removing project barriers, and developing team members
  • Ensure projects are integrated and aligned with other business activities, improvement projects, and business strategy, and coordinated with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish the project goals (whenever possible)
  • Communicate best practices and key learnings across the organization.
  • Support the company’s commitment to employee engagement through performance-based recognition programs, critical thinking, and innovation
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement tools and methodology to conduct root cause analysis
  • Lead risk identification and risk mitigating planning
  • Lead Change Management planning and execution for projects, ensuring effective, accurate, and timely communication of project information to meet the needs of partners
  • Utilize negotiation, facilitation, meeting management, and conflict resolution skills to enhance cross-functional team performance
  • Facilitate project post-mortems with all key partners and identify key areas for process improvements
  • Act as the liaison between site's operations team, and the functional engineering subject matter experts to translate needed requirements for identified projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Statistics, or Supply Chain required; Master’s degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred
  • 5+ years experience within Distribution, Supply Chain/Logistics or Manufacturing
  • 2 years of Continuous Improvement experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with respectful coaching techniques and performance management of team members
  • Cross-functional collaboration capabilities, including with interviewing and hiring selection
  • Driven by results, with ability to solve problems and conflicts
  • Detail-oriented and thorough; but able to manage time
  • Lean certification, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $120,000 - $140,000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below:
