Job summary

Miami University is seeking a Sr Maintenance/Repair Tech/Emergency Tech for the Maintenance Group 9. This regular, hourly position supports university buildings on the 1st shift (Wed-Sat, 5:00am-3:30pm) with a 40-hour workweek.

The successful candidate will perform mechanical tasks, respond to repairs, and implement preventive maintenance. A valid driver’s license and experience in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing are required.

Qualifications

• Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school.
• Two years of repair/maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Requires driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and investigate site; determine repair procedures and estimate time and materials.
• Perform repair work; replace tile; repair doors/windows; unstopp sinks; repair steam valves; replace motors and pumps on HVAC equipment; repair electrical switches/receptacles.
• Serve as informational resource to staff.
• Plan and conduct preventive maintenance program.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
• May assist in setting up stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting for events.

Job Description

Essential Duties

• Reviews work orders and investigates site; determines proper repair procedures; estimates time and materials needed.
• Performs repair work; replaces tile; repairs doors and window; unstops sinks and other plumbing fixtures; repairs steam valves; replaces motors and pumps on heating/air conditioning equipment; repairs electric switches and receptacles.
• Serves as informational resource to staff.
• Plans and conducts a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
• Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
• May assist in setting up of stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting system for special events.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires driver’s license.
