Sr Maintenance/Repair Tech / Emergency Tech (Work Group 9)
First shift (Wednesday‑Saturday): 5:00a.m. – 3:30p.m., 40 hours per week, hourly rate $17.95.
Job Description
Performs a variety of mechanical tasks related to general maintenance on university buildings.
Essential Duties
- Review work orders and investigate site; determine proper repair procedures; estimate time and materials needed.
- Perform repair work: replace tile, repair doors and windows, unsink and other plumbing fixtures, repair steam valves, replace motors and pumps on heating/air‑conditioning equipment, repair electric switches and receptacles.
- Serve as an informational resource to staff.
- Plan and conduct a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- May assist in setting up stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting systems for special events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of mechanical repair.
- Ability to read schematics.
