Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP seeks an experienced cloud engineer to join the Technology Architecture & Engineering Department. The engineer will architect, implement, optimize, and troubleshoot enterprise-scale server environments across Azure, AWS, and on-premises hybrid deployments.

The role requires 10+ years in IT with 5+ in engineering and 3+ in a technical SME capacity, plus strong scripting (PowerShell) and security.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of information technology experience, including 5+ years in engineering and 3+ years of technical focus.
• Azure infrastructure expertise; AWS/GCP experience a plus.
• Cloud certifications are a plus.
• Strong monitoring and security practices for cloud environments.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Technology Architecture & Engineering Department is responsible for worldwide technical strategy, design, implementation, and top level support for all core infrastructure. As part of TA&E, the Systems Engineering group is responsible for integrating various technologies including server OS, virtualization, storage, directories, email, security, and cloud platforms.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated cloud engineer. The engineer should have in-depth experience architecting, implementing, optimizing and troubleshooting enterprise scale server environments including cloud based, hybrid and on-prem deployments. This involves all aspects of architecting the environment; sizing, stability, resiliency, security, growth planning, monitoring, etc.

In relation to cloud responsibilities, the engineer will assist in further securing the existing cloud presence and expanding new workloads in the Azure and AWS adhering to best practices.

Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential functions:

• Research, evaluate, and recommend technical solutions to address business challenges
• Architect, engineer, and deploy to production technical solutions including detailed architectural design documentation
• Transition systems from engineering to operations by providing documentation and training to technical staff
• Lead technical projects and sub-projects across the department
• Serve as subject matter expert and internal consultant to other technical staff and groups
• Be the top level responsible party for escalated support, working directly with external vendors and consultants to resolve issues and produce root cause analysis reports
• Efficiently triage and prioritize tasks, projects and issues in a highly demanding environment
• Any additional responsibilities as required by management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Expert understanding of cloud computing and design, IAM, VPC/Azure Landing Zone, and Virtual Networks
• Expert Azure infrastructure knowledge and experience required; some AWS and/or GCP experience desired
• Cloud certification a plus
• Expert understanding of implementing proper health/status monitoring for mission critical systems
• Solid understanding of PowerShell and general scripting/automation
• Solid understanding of encryption and security best practices and methods
• Experience troubleshooting with logs in SIEM, SCOM, and other tools
• Experience with on-premises hyperconverged environments a plus
• Good understanding of connectivity in the cloud
• 10+ years of experience in information technology, including 5+ years of experience in engineering and 3+ years of experience in a technical subject matter
• Proven experience with large enterprise scale environments
• Proven desire and ability to learn new technologies
• Proven success in leading projects
• Proven focus on customer service and business oriented thinking

Education/Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a similar field

Estimated salary range is $150,000 - $200,000 .Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited tothe individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
